We had Local MP for Southend West, David Amess visit us on Friday the 20th June Open Day. He Visited both Lighthouse and Fairmead where he said ” I am extremely impressed with the way you run the company, it is very good in fact I am going to write a letter to say how impressed I am”. This comment was a fantastic one to receive and it acknowledges the hard work that the staff put in to ensure we change peoples life for the positive.

We also had pleasant comments from another David from SCIE ( Social Care institute of Excellence) who came and said he was also impressed. He said the place felt homely and the service users and their family’s appeared very happy. We had a music man who came and played songs for the service users and gave them instruments to play along. Staff where also singing and dancing( That’s right I saw you!).

I hear and see a lot of bad press when it comes to residential homes for one reason or another. As a care co-ordinator for residential care it is very pleasing when we prove that residential care doesn’t have to be institutional it doesn’t have to be ‘one size fits all’. It can be about the individual and embracing the person centred care approach. Just look at some of the photos on this site and see the residents really enjoying there lives. This is what care is about making a difference. We at care in style from the owners to the frontline staff want to make a difference and this is our ethic and one that we ensure happens.

So the open day was very pleasing and a great success. I would like to thank all the guests for coming and all the staff for there hard work on that day.
